I don't know if you noticed, but Ino Gene has its own youtube channel. You can check it whenever you want. Not all videos are posted on facebook or this blog. Please feel free to subscribe on my youtube channel for statying tuned with Ino Gene at all costs! Parrot breeding is exciting!

Check out one of the final videos i recently posted.

Hint: In the video you will see some rings in the background that are size 4.5. Those are intented for lovebirds, not for cockatiels. This little guy has a 5.0mm ring. The other rings in the background are there because i moved on, on the lovebirds after and i left them there. Cheers!

First exhibition budgerigar

The very first banded exhibition budgerigar with my own number (CAS 561). It is the result between the very first time for the young couple you can see. The male is born in 2012 and the female is born in 2014, so this is her very first clutch of goods. Very proud of her because she is constantly inside the nest taking care of her baby (hence mom).

Lovebird & Cockatiel babies

More lovely lovebirds and cockatiels are on the way. First babies of the year are already been hatched. You can see them in the pictures, beautiful little birdies. Always the best. On the left you can see one hatched lovebird by the beautiful green parents in cage C2, and on the right you can see (hardly) two little cockatiel babies.

Lovino

The unexpected happened! The second newborn of the violet mom is an albino. What that means? The dad carries the ino gene of course! And what more? That specific chick is a female alright. The other two brothers/sisters so far are normal budgerigars.

There are seven baby budgerigars in total, with three of these babies belong to the violet hen. You can check them out in the picture.

Also, regarding the other birds, the cockatiels have a full clutch of six eggs now. The lovebird pair in cage C2 have a total of five eggs and the lovebird pair in cage C3 (the parents of the very last three birds of the previous season) have none until now.

First hatch

Today's hatch, also first hatch of the year, was came by the violet mom. Very proud of her. According to my collected data, the very first egg was laid at 11th of February, so that makes the incubation period about 22 days which is 4 days offset of the normal incubation period. That is due to the fact that during that period we had really cold days. I hope that everything proceed smoothly without any unfortunate casualties.
