Baby lovebirds are out!

The baby lovebirds from cage C3 are out. Really beautiful birds and they look just like their parents. The one standing on my hand is the first of the breed, carrying the very first leg band i put to a bird. Also i want to remind you for the new season's start date which is going to be the first days of February, so stay tuned for a lot of pictures!

Food, glorious food

Always have a lot of food in storage. Don't let your birds ever without seeds. Of course, i always put some vegetable - fruit in their diet too. I want to keep my birds as healthy as i can. Breeding is my hobby, i don't expect to earn money from it. February is getting closed, and so the new season. Stay tuned for the best moments of the year. Cheers!

Getting bigger

My lovely baby lovebirds are getting bigger and bigger. Just wonderful. It has been almost one and a half months since they were hatched. All three of them are looking good and healthy. And of course they look like their parents, having the expected colour of dark green. All of them are hybrids just like their parents (maskef/fischer).

First loss

I hoped that i could make it to Spring without any casualties but unfortunately, it happened. The baby lovebird in cage C1 couldn't make it due to the cold. I couldn't take it inside and the parents were in the nest all the time and kept it warm. It had started to grow some feathers but not enough to keep it warm enough.

Coldest experience ever!

The last two days, i have experienced the coldest days in my life. Temperature dropped at zero degrees Celsius. I moved my zebra finches inside in order to prevent bad things happen because they are the most fragile birds i have (and exist in common). Today, the temperature came at logical levels and the weather forecast is saying about rise of temperature in the next following days. None of my parrots died and i am very grateful for that. In the picture you can see the measures i took in order to keep safe my birds. It's not the best solution but it did the trick.

Ino is a female!

At last! The DNA results have arrived and as you can see in the picture, Ino is a young lady. The next thing i am gonna do this year is to search for a little older ringneck to make it a pair. The color of the male ringneck would be either a strong intense blue one, either a violet one. Since the violet was imported in Cyprus not long ago, the price of it exceeds my budget right now. Of course if an opportunity comes up, i will take advantage of it.
